surgery!

So my surgery is now on oct. 20th at 11a.m. I am not sure how long i will be in the hospital, but starting tuesday night or wednsday on I will be up for visitors. I mean if anybody wants to come see me. But I doubt it.LOL! It is going to be at Sharp grossmont again. I will let you all know what room and stuff when i can or just call me and i will let you all know. surgery cancelled!

so my surgery tomorrow is canceled. It turns out that i can'thave an surgery or anything until six weeks after my last treatment because of the Avastin. It's only been 4. So when i get the new date i will let you all! know.

The skull!

So the day is finally here. The date September 23. The place, Grossmont hospital. The time 7:30a.m.( but i have to get there at 5). The occasion? My skull replacement. yes it is finally coming true. It really does exsist and its going to happen. So i get my skull in next wednsday. I am not sure how long it will take and when i will be ready for visitors. Asuming anybodywould want to visit me.LOL! but that is kind of conceded lol. My number is (858)603-8304 if you want to call me to see if i'm feeling up to visitors, or just to give me a call to see how i am doing. So even though there is great news there is also not so great news.

So i got a letter in the mail from Vons.It stated that i have achieved the max time alotted for me to be away from my job, for them to be able to assure me that they can hold my job. They sent me a paper to request for an extention, but this is what the letter said that i recieved.

" your request for acommadation was reviewed by vons acommodation commitee. The following determinations were found. We are unable to grant an extension of this duration. Since the contractual limit for the LOA has been exhausted, your employment at Vons will end. ^ months thats all they gave me for brain cancer. After numerous doctors notes saying i wouldn't be able to return because i have no skull and recovery from surgery when i got it in.

So i went to the union who is supposed to help you, and they said they could do nothing because the new contract states that after six months they could let me go, but i could reapply. So they suggested i call my store manager to see if i could be guaranteed my job back when i reapply when able to come back. So i called him and asked. He said no. He couldn't guarantee that there would be an opening, because of the economy. What kinda bullshit is that. I leave because i have brain cancer, vons fires me and my store manager says he might not be able to give me my job back. When the only reason i left was because there were multiple oppertunities for me to be injured or even killed due to not having 1/3 of my skull! So we will see what happens with that. Possibly some media time. So if you have axcess to them let me know. But i willl let you know if we need to go that far! so hopefully I will all brand new and ready to hang out again soon. Great news!

so my oncologist called me today to tell me about my scans. he says that the scans looked great, and showed nothing. The spot was on the soft tissue and he was not worried about it. The only thing was my thyroid was low, so he just wants me to increase my meds by a half a pill. but i have an appointment appointment next thursday with them so we will see what happens there. and then i have my appointment with my nuerosurgeon to discuus geting my skull placed now. so that is it for now and iwill write again on thursday to let you all know what happens with that. have a great day!

well the scans were clear except a tiny spot kept flaring up on my pet scan on the obsipitol lobe of my skull. something is showing up on the bottom right of my skull, but they think it could also be swelling of the skull from my radiation treatment, so my oncologist is going to get together with my radiologist and nuerosurgeon to discuss what they think, and in the meantime i will see my nuerolsurgeont see if he wants to put my skull in, or open me up to investigate and do a biopsy of that part of the skull that is flaming up on the scans. Busy Week!!!

Okay so today I had a pet scan. That went well. Was injected with radioactive suger again, so hopefully i don't get bit by any poisonous spiders.LOL! I had a full body scan! Then tomorrow,Wednsday, I have a brain MRI.And then last but not least,the most important, My appointment with my oncologist on thursday. To go over my scans and see if I am cured.Its always a waiting process. But I am sure I will get better, even if i find out it's not thursday. Last one?

well i had this long elaborate 3 paragraph story written out and I pressed one button and it got erased. So here I am now just to let you all know that hoefully thursday will be my last treatment. Then I will probably get a pet scan to see if everything is gone. If so I am hoping to get my skull in by mid september. but we will see. I am doing well, and ready for this thing to beover with. next To last one!

So I hopefully had my next to last chemo treatment today. It went well. The only problem was once again my white blood cell count. It wasn't as high as they would have liked it, but it was still higher from 2 weeks ago. So they gave me another shot to help my wbc's grow. I have had cellulitis in my foot the past weeek again. I have been keeping off of it, and on antibiotics. It is slowly but surely going away.
I'm off to tennessee for a week to see an old family friend. Being a fan of country music, I have always wanted to go there. So it will be fun. Hopefully my foot will completely heel by the end of my antibiotics on saturday. And hopefully it won't act up again. But thats all that is new, so I will write when I get back next thursday. Finally writing again!

so its been a while. The update! I have been doing good. haven't gotten sick,no nausea or pain reall. A headache every now and then. So I only have 3 treatments left, and should have my last one on august 27th if my calculations are right. Then my nuerosurgeon said i will probably get my skull place in mid september. So we will see. I hope to do RES camp, but we will see how my doctors note goes. Bored off my mind, so if anyone wants to hang out, let me know. I have to start paying for cobra insurence which is $234 a month, instead of the $35 dollars i would be paying a month if i were working. But it won't be so long till I write again, I apologize. hello world!

so i had my second chemo treatment today. It went well. only took an hour this time. The next four should only take 30 mionutes. Then hopefully I will be done, and clear, and gone. But we will see in four 8 weeks. My next treatment is on the 17th. Well this weekend was a very busy weekend. I went to the camp fundraising dance, then saturday I was in urgent care for my foot swelling up. I was diagnosed with cellulitis. So they have given me an antibiotic. Its getting better. My oncologist didn't think it was that, so he gave me a shot of cortizone in the buttox. It wasn't him, a cute nurse did actually. Then after that went to a friends bbq were we had a pig roast, then a bonfire.

Then sunday through tuesday, I spent with my best friend since middle school. He moved to Tennesee last year after getting married, and had his first child. His wife had a daughter aleady, so now he is the proud father of an 8 yr old girl, and a little 4 month old boy. So sunday was his sons christining. Then his parents had a bbq at her house. I stayed the night, then the next day I went to the zoo with him. That was fun. So I stayed the night again, and that was monday.

So tuesday was the last day I got to spend with him and his family. We did some erands they had to run, then we went up to his wife's parents house for yet another bbq in Ramona. So now I must rest up for 16 days until SIBS camp. I can't wait, but I have to get my costumes together, but I will be ready. I can't wait. So I will talk to you all later. Take care and god bless!

Chemo!!!!

So I started chemo yesterday. The drug is avastan. I guess it's not really a chemo drug, it's a targeting agent drug. And the second drug adriamycin is an antibiotic. So technicallyi am not getting chemo. But my oncologist said there might be an actual chemo drug thrown in there. So we will see. I am going in every other week for treatments. And for 6 treatments, and then hopefully I will be cured. But we will see. Then about six months down the road I should get my skull back in. That's about it for now. More to come. TTYAL. eeeeeerrrrrrrrr!!!! RED LIGHT!

So tomorrow is my last radiation treatment. Just in the nic of time to. I went in today and found out that since the beginning of May I have not had insurence! Why, I have no clue why. I will get it settled though. Well i will have to so i can continue treatment. My dad and I are going to go to the union, so wish me luck. I will let you know what happens.

April fools late!

So I actually had my appointment with my oncologist today. So I saw him and he changed my plans. It looks like I get to go to high school(chemo and remission) and graduate before going back to elementary school(skull placement). You know why did i even start describing my treatments like school. Other then the three different parts it's pretty weird. I didn't even really do great in school. Anyway, so next friday I have another appointment with with my oncologist next friday, and may possibly have my first dose of avastin(the drug that kills cancer cells ONLY!). Until then, I have 2 more hannibal Lectur treatments. I saw the radiologist today and he says I am doing great. So, that brings me to the skull. My oncologist says that he wants to start the chemo, so the skull placement may have to wait for about six or so months down the road. Oh, and I will be going in once a week for the treatment. almost graduated from middle school!

So compared to schooling standards, I am almost graduated from middle school,LOL! I have 3 more treatments of radiation, THEN I'M DONE!!!! No more Hanibal Lectur for me. My next step will be going back to elementary school and being promoted High school which will be chemo, and remission. Anyway i have an appointment with my oncologist on wed, so we will see if this is all true. Anyway, I will talk to you later. Everyone have a great day, and just live life.

Dr. appointment.

So I went to my nuerosurgeon today. I have had more bumps growing on the right side of my head. I presume that they are more blood clots, because he took out the jp shunt while my head was still draining. He believes the same, but says there is nothing he can do and wants to see me back next thursday. I just hope I don't get admitted then, because then I will miss the prom and Rana's RFL. I'VE BUSTED OUT!!!!

I'm home! I'm home! I got released from my prison today. Not for the best reason though. My nuerosurgeon sent me home because of my JP shunt. I am still draining, but he didn't want to risk the chance of infection there, so he sent me home. He took the jp out but left the wound open, so as he said," you might still ooze out." I was also supposed to get another dose of radiation today, but yet again the machine was down. Well that's about it for now, but if you want to hang out let me know, before I go back into the hospital to get my skull placed. RADIATION!

So I recieved my first radiation treatment today. The only bad part was the stupid mask that they lock you into the table with. So I was really scared I was going to get sick like I did everyday of my past treatments. Especially because this time I was on my back getting it, and I didn't want to spew all over my face( or choke on my own vomit like a drunk). I had warned them on Monday that I get sick from the smell, They told me " well were not prepared to accomodate for that so don't do it." And also they told me I shouldn't smell anything.

So I go in and they lock me down. It wasn't as bad today because it wasn't as tight, so I could actually see clearly through my mask. they started out by giving me a scan, to position me correctly, then they started treatment. It took 6 minutes. And I did start to smell that phosphuric smell. I just held my breathe and it went away. It started coming back, but everytime it did all I did was hold my breathe and it went away. It turns out I am going to get 20 treatments, and it might take a week until the bleeding stops from my head. (They planned to use radiation to stop the draining as well). "Hello Clarise"

So today I thought I was going in for radiation treatment to stop the bleeding and draining in my head. Instead I walked into a nightmare!

So I walked, actually rolled into the office expecting to lay on a table, and getting zapped by the radiation. In and out in 15 minutes,(that's the way it was 11 years ago). But no, that is not what happened. At first they had me go in the room and lay on the table on the back. They said they had to make a mask, so I was like okay that will be easy. So then the soak this plastic fence like thing in warm water to soften it, and brought it over. They then molded it to my face, and locked the mold down to the table.( Click, click, click, click, thats all I heard). Suddenly My vision went blury and I couldn't move from my shoulders up. It was also hard to breath. So I thought to myself it will be fine, I just have to stay like this for 10-15 minutes while they take the pictures. That ended up turning into 40-45 minutes. It was the scariest expierience in my life. Even more then jumping out of an airplane by myself skydiving. plus I had to pee so bad! finally it was over!

I felt like Hanibal Lectur, trapped with that metal mask. Then came the best news. I would have to have that mask put on and locked to the table everytime I got the radiation! So hope fully I will only have to do it one more time. So I am supposed to have the radiation treatment tomorrow or Wednsday. Hopefuly it will be tomorrow, and it stops the bleeding so I will be out of here by thursday or early Friday morning. Steve is giving me his tickets for the Padres game. I already missed today's(opening day) game in a sky box These tix are right above the pads dugout, so I am not missing to great seated games. Anywho, more to come later.

Alert! Alert! Alert!

sorry I haven't written in a while, I kind of had a little incident with my computer. IT WAS STOLEN! Yeah! So it all started on tuesday around 4 p.m. I had visitors with me (the Hernandez family), and the nurse came in and told me that I was being transfered. So I packed my bags and headed to the new room. (MY OWN!). The son Angel carried my laptop around his neck, and when he got there his mom hung it at the foot of my bed. They ended up staying for about 30 more minutes. After they left I was tired so I took a nap.

I woke up and it was gone! I was shocked, but thought well maybe someone put it somewhere. So I called the nurse and asked if they took it to lock it up or something. They said no and checked around the room. Nothing! Nothing I could do. I was so bummed. It was a Christmas present from my parents. How could someone, in a hospital, just come in to someones room and while they were sleeping take there stuff. Your supposed to be feel safe and protected. So the nurse called security and I took down a report. When He showed up he asked "did anyone check around the room?" No officer I totally didn't think about doing that, oh look there it is. Like duh. So then he said well let me check one more time. So he checked everywhere we had checked two or three times already. Then, he says " well I doubt anybody would do this but let me take the report down." And to make me feel even more secure I told him maybe he could check the cameras between that time slot. He told me they didn't have any cameras for the privacy of the patients. ( and the thieves who come and steal from patients room).

The next day Michael Clarke came to visit along with Robby. Scince Mike has some hook ups with the media, so he is going to try to get through to Turko, and the " TURKO FILES". S if any news pops up I will let you all know. Till then keep looking for me on KUUUUUSI!

back again!

So wednsday I was back at grossmont hospital. I went for an appointment at noon for an appointment with my nurosurgeon, because I found more bumps on my right said of my head. He saw me had a cat scan ordered and said to see him tomorrow(thursday) at his office on frost street, with the scans. So I was at home about to eat, and the nurosuergeons office called and said to come to the er at grossmont right away. All I thought was oh great here we go again.

The bumps had felt the same as the other ones so I was already expecting surgery again(, and what do you know) that's what happened. It wasn't what I expected though. I figured more tumors, but it actually turned out to be blood clots. So yesterday( thursday) I had another craniotamy to remove them. and yet again I woke up right after the procedure., then the fun part. I had to lay in the gurney for an hour and a half while they got a room ready for me. Unfortunately I now have to share a room, but at least I am away from the screaming lady. And actually my roommate works at Albertson's, so we are kind of rivals. but that is pretty much it for now. Updates soon to come. Have a great day for me, and talk to you soon.

well I got my pet scan back today. It looks like I have mor tumors growing in my head! The report sYS THt there is one growing on the left side of my head between my shunt and the midline of my brain. stARTING on sunday though I started feeling bumps above my right ear. today i feel them about 1/4 or 1/2 inch forward and about to the base of my skull. I see my nuerosurgeon tomorrow, and we will see what the plan is tomorrow. the bumps are squishy like the last time so I just assume they are tumots to. the good news is my skull is in. rhe bad news, I might have to have it remade now. But I will let everyone know tomorrow. ttyl, and take care everyone.

pet scan

so I just got back from my pet scan that almost didn't happen. Yesterday when I called to make an appointment, the lady told me my part of the payment would be $1400. I told her that was fine and she scheduled the appointment. So I went in today, filled out the paperwork and went to give it to the receptionist. She then said "okay that will be $1400." I was in schock! Apparantly when the scheduler told me the price she was telling me that was how much I would have to pay at the appointment, because my deductible was not made. Luckily my dad talked to them and we only ended up haveing to pay $100.

then they took me back and took my vitals. Then they gave me a quick I.V.. They then drew blood for a blood suger test, and then the bad part. They flushed the line with saline. It wouldn't be that bad, but after my first surgery for my meddulablastoma tumor I was paralyzed on my right side from the extra fluid in my brain. So th ey were supposed to give me lemon drops took keep my mouth moist. Instead they gave me saline drops. So now everytime they flush my lines I can taste it in my mouth. Then the fun part, I was infused with radioactive glucose(suger),(So who knows maybe I will become TI hulk after all). After that I was left in a room for an hour to relax and let the suger go throughout my body. I layed there and slept while listening to my country music. After the hour, they took me back and did the scan. And that's that! As soon as I get the results I will let you all know, until then have fun and live life!

I just wanted to write and say thank you for everyone's love and support. It makes it a lot easier to go through when you know you have so many people praying, rooting, and supporting you. It means the the world to me. I guess I am supposed to get a pet scan to assure there is no cancer anywhere else, but they are waiting for insurence approval( so ridiculous). cancer!!!
so for everyone who doesn't know, my cancer has returned after 11 years remission. It is not the same one. I have been diagnosed with angeo sarcoma. The oncologist believes that it is an onset of my radiation treatment from before. I saw the nuerosurgeon and the oncologist today.

At the nuerosurgeons today I found out that I am just waiting for my new skull to be made. For those of you who do not know, The tumors in my head pretty much diseased part of my skull so it was removed. I would sayit was a big chunck of the right side, yet I am not exactelly sure. Anywho, the nuerosurgeon is having a plastic skull made for me to place where there is just brain. Some of you may question if there is even a brain there,(you know who you are) but i can assure you there is.At the oncologist today I found out that we are waiting to start treatment until i receive(i before e except after c) my new skull.


The onc has diagnosed me with a undefined sarcoma, but believes it is an angeo sarcoma. The treatment plan so far is a drug called anvient, or something like that. It is a drug that attacks only the cancer cell itself. also I will probably have a small dose of some sort of chemotherapy.i will have a pet scan on monday to make sure the cancer has not spread anywhere else in my body. So that is pretty much everything for now. Thanks for all the support I have and may continue to receive through this whole process. It means the world to me.
